Where did you actively begin coaching during the program?

Head Coach, Markham Wildcats, Ontario Volleyball Association, Competitive, 13U Boys, Volleyball

What NCCP workshop(s) did you complete?

Making Ethical DecisionsMaking Head Way in Sports, Plan a Practice, Nutrition and the Level 1 volleyball courses

What was the most important thing that you learned as part of your NCCP Training(s)?

The most important thing I learned as part of the NCCP training is that there are a wealth of qualified coaches out there that can assist you and mentor you to get better.  Coaching is made more easy with all the courses offered by the NCCP.  After each tournament with my team, I often reflect on how I can be a better coach for my boys.  I would take the time and browse through the courses offered and try to take a new course to broaden my coaching knowledge.

Please explain how this program has benefited you as a coach.

I have been provided the confidence to succeed as a coach as I know there are lots of support and courses to get better.

What is your favourite part of coaching?

Working with the kids and seeing them learn to love the game I teach.

What are the next steps for you in coaching?

Complete my Level 1 volleyball coaching and begin my level 2 volleyball coaching.

Why did you decide to become a coach?

To give back to the game that gave joy and purpose as a youth.

What is your favourite part of coaching?

To see the athlete’s expression when they have that “aha” moment in acquiring/attaining a specific skill.

How did the program benefited you as a mentor?

As a mentor, I gain new ideas and perspectives through the conversations and guidance of the coach.

What type of feedback was given to your New Coach?

Reviewed player management of playing time, practice planning and management of the players. Discussed the coaches approach, challenges, thoughts and actions in respect to the items above. Advised  Siu On to continue his the great work of communicating with players and parents in the season.
