NIAGARA: NCWO Community Clinic


In celebration of National Coaches Week in Ontario this year, the Coaches Association of Ontario (CAO) has partnered with host communities from across the province to deliver NCCP Community Clinics, which aim to recruit, develop, educate and celebrate community volunteer coaches!
These workshops are being provided to coaches at SUPER Discounted rates thanks to the partnership with  Thorold Legion Minor Baseball and provincial sport organizations.

NCCP Baseball Initiation Coach Clinic – 6:00pm – 10:00pm – ONLY $10

Once you’ve completed the Online Initiation module, this facilitated clinic allows you to continue to learn the fundamentals of baseball, safety and ethical decision-making skills, and how to develop an emergency action plan.

NCCP Baseball Hitting Clinic – 9:00am – 1:00pm – ONLY $10

Teaching hitting is like putting a puzzle together. Visualize the picture, analyze the pieces and then put the pieces in place. When put together, the result or goal is a skill, an achievement. Whether you are looking to develop sound hitting fundamentals or to refine hitting mechanics, you’ll find hitting tips in this workshop designed to help coaches make proper adjustments to player performance during practices and games. (Lunch and special guest speaker included!)


NCCP Make Ethical Decisions – 9:00am – 1:00pm – ONLY $10
(*Cannot be combined with Baseball Hitting Clinic*)

By successfully completing the 3.5-hour Make Ethical Decisions workshop you will be fully equipped to handle virtually any ethical situation with confidence and surety. MED is one of the NCCP’s cornerstone workshops, and leaves coaches with no doubt as to what to do when the going gets tough. Upon completing the MED module you’ll be able to: analyze a challenging situation and determine if it has moral, legal or ethical implications; and apply the NCCP Ethical Decision-Making Model to properly respond to each situation in a way that is consistent with the NCCP Code of Ethics. (Lunch and special guest speaker included!)


Basic Mental Skills Workshop – 2:00pm – 6:00pm – ONLY  $10
(*Cannot be combined with Baseball Infielding Clinic*)

The Basic Mental Skills module gives you the ability to: Recognize signs indicating that an athlete may need to improve his/her goal setting, focus, and anxiety control skills; and develop tools to help the athlete to make improvements in these areas; Run simple guided activities that help athletes improve basic mental skills.


NCCP Baseball Infielding Clinic – 2:00pm – 6:00pm – ONLY $10

It is said that good defence wins games. Learning how to play the different positions of the infield will bring a team to the next level. Positioning, responsibilities, mechanics, coverage and basic drills will be covered in this clinic designed to help coaches make proper adjustments to player performance during practices and games.

The FUNdamentals course is six hours and features a three-hour in-class session, which teaches the stages of development and of teaching basketball skills, goes over ethical decision making, and talks about concussions and why coaches are so important in the development of young athletes, and a three-hour on-court drills and skills session, which teaches coaches how to properly develop basketball fundamentals. (Lunch and special guest speaker included!)


NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills – 9:00am – 3:00pm – ONLY $15
(*Cannot be combined with Basketball FUNdamentals OR Planning a Practice*)

Through this interactive workshop, participants gain the ability to: Detect and correct basic errors for fundamental movement skills in participants so they have a choice to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle; Apply a teaching process to promote the development of fundamental movement skills; Adapt fundamental movement skills for participants with intellectual, physical, sensory, or behavioural disabilities; Lead activities that will promote the development of fundamental movement skills in a safe, responsible manner while interacting with others; and Provide stage-appropriate feedback to encourage and develop fundamental movement skills in participants. (Lunch and special guest speaker included!)


NCCP Planning a Practice – 9:00am – 3:00pm – ONLY $15
(*Cannot be combined with  Basketball FUNdamentals OR Fundamental Movement Skills*)

The NCCP Planning a Practice learning activities will prepare coaches to explain the importance of logistics in the development of a practice plan, establish an appropriate structure for a practice and identify appropriate activities for each part of the practice. To receive the full credit for the NCCP Planning a Practice module, coaches must complete a FREE Emergency Action Plan eLearning activity in the locker, which will gives coaches a detailed EAP that includes all required information for responding to an emergency.
