TORONTO: MLSE LaunchPad NCCP Community Clinic


In celebration of National Coaches Week in Ontario this year, the Coaches Association of Ontario (CAO) has partnering with host communities from across the province to deliver NCCP Community Clinics, which aim to recruit, develop, educate and celebrate community volunteer coaches!
These workshops are  being provided to coaches at SUPER Discounted rates thanks to the partnership with MLSE LaunchPad

Make Ethical Decisions Workshop – 6pm-10pm – SOLD OUT

By successfully completing the 3.5-hour Make Ethical Decisions workshop you will be fully equipped to handle virtually any ethical situation with confidence and surety. MED is one of the NCCP’s cornerstone workshops, and leaves coaches with no doubt as to what to do when the going gets tough. Upon completing the MED module you’ll be able to: analyze a challenging situation and determine if it has moral, legal or ethical implications; and apply the NCCP Ethical Decision-Making Model to properly respond to each situation in a way that is consistent with the NCCP Code of Ethics.


Basic Mental Skills Workshop – 6pm-10pm – SOLD OUT
(*Cannot be combined  with Make Ethical Decisions Workshop*)

The Basic Mental Skills module gives you the ability to: Recognize signs indicating that an athlete may need to improve his/her goal setting, focus, and anxiety control skills; and develop tools to help the athlete to make improvements in these areas; Run simple guided activities that help athletes improve basic mental skills.

Fundamental Movement Skills Workshop – 10am-3pm- ONLY $15
(*Cannot be combined  with Planning a Practice Workshop*)

Through this interactive workshop, participants gain the ability to: Detect and correct basic errors for fundamental movement skills in participants so they have a choice to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle; Apply a teaching process to promote the development of fundamental movement skills; Adapt fundamental movement skills for participants with intellectual, physical, sensory, or behavioural disabilities; Lead activities that will promote the development of fundamental movement skills in a safe, responsible manner while interacting with others; and Provide stage-appropriate feedback to encourage and develop fundamental movement skills in participants.


Planning a Practice Workshop – 9am-2:30pm- SOLD OUT

The Planning a Practice module will give you the skills to: Organize a well-structured practice plan with safe, age-appropriate activities you’ve designed to match the proficiency level of participants; Identify potential risk factors that could impact the sport and practice activities; Create an emergency action plan; and Identify practice goals and design activities that offer the best training benefits for the athletic skills required in your sport.


Nutrition Workshop – 3:00pm – 4:30pm – ONLY $5 – SOLD OUT

After taking the Nutrition module you will be able to: Determine if foods and beverages consumed by your athletes before, during and after training are adequate; Offer suggestions for more suitable food and beverage alternatives when necessary; and Gain a better understanding of the best way to promote healthy food choices that are consistent with basic sport nutrition principles to both athletes and their parents.

Soccer FUNdamentals Workshop – 9:00am – 5:00pm – ONLY $20
(*Cannot be combined  with Basketball Fundamentals Workshop*)

In this course, participants will learn how to develop the ABCs of movement: Agility, Balance, Coordination and speed. In addition, participants will learn how to explain the FUNdamentals of a game in a way that children can understand and be provided with effective practice plans that will make preparing for the season easier and help them make a difference with their teams. This course is ideal for coaches working with young players in stage U6 – U9.


Basketball Fundamentals Workshop – 9am-5pm – SOLD OUT
(*Cannot be combined  with Soccer Fundamentals Workshop*)

Registration must be done through the Canada Basketball Game Plan system. https://gameplanbasketball.ca/ 

Designed for the first-time coach of athletes in the FUNdamentals stage (ages 6-8 females/6-9 males) of athlete development, this six-hour, in-class and in the gym workshop will help you understand who you are coaching, provide you with the basic skills for planning a practice, and show you how to teach those skills in a fun and inclusive way.

BONUS: Included in this workshop is a Professional Development session for Coaches on Wheelchair Basketball presented by the Ontario Wheelchair Sports Association. Find out how easily you can adapt your existing skills and knowledge to the wheelchair game!
