COACH WAGE SUBSIDY PARTNERSHIP SUPPORT

“Coaches are the backbone of the Canadian sport system,” says Sheilagh Croxon, Chair of the Coaches Association of Ontario. They are the unsung heroes who work tirelessly behind the scenes to help kids develop as both human beings and to reach their athletic potential.”  With a focus on excellence, this initiative in time may increase the number of eligible coaches for national team opportunities.  lottery

Since the launch of the scratch & win lottery in 2006, $52 Million has been allocated for Ontario's athletes and coaches.

“Supporting coach development in our province allows athletes and coaches to stay in Ontario and train where they live and where a family support system exists,” says Susan Kitchen, Executive Director of the Coaches Association of Ontario.

Specifically, Ontario’s Quest for Gold Enhanced Coaching Program will provide:

  • Educational bursaries and financial assistance to coaches to offset professional development
  • Matching 3-year coach wage subsidies for new head coach positions
  • Expanding coaching experience through apprenticeship opportunities
  • Support to a provincial coaching conference focused on excellence in coaching at higher levels.
