We are excited to announce the latest speakers added to the 2020 Ontario Coaches Conference April 24-26 in Hamilton, are Dr. Gretchen Kerr & Ashley Stirling!
The landscape of sport is changing rapidly with respect to safe sport and athlete welfare. From the University of Toronto, both Dr. Kerr & Prof. Stirling are internationally recognized researchers and experts in the fields of Safe Sport and Athlete Welfare. There session at this year’s OCC will focus on concrete strategies to promote the safety of all participants, including athletes, coaches and administrators.
Gretchen Kerr is a Professor in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education and Vice-Dean, Programs, in the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Toronto. Her expertise and research focuses on Safe Sport, and specifically on strategies to realize the potential and promise sport has for individual health and fulfillment, collective well-being, and the public good. She has a long history of translating her research to practice and working with key sport organizations across Canada to advance Safe Sport.
Prof. Ashley Stirling is known internationally for her research on athlete welfare and interpersonal violence in sport. Applying her research to practice, she has developed and evaluated national coach education initiatives for the Coaches Association of Ontario, the Coaching Association of Canada and the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity. Ashley Stirling is an Associate Professor, Teaching Stream and the Vice-Dean of Academic Affairs in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education at the University of Toronto.
