Mental Health 101 Workshop

To help coaches expand their knowledge and skills in the area of mental health, the Canadian Centre for Sport and Mental Health (CCMHS) is proud to partner to provide a comprehensive workshop to assist coaches on their professional learning journey. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to expand your mental health toolbox, learning about evidence-based strategies and resources that can assist you and your athletes.

Important topics will include:

  • Understanding the difference and intersectionality between mental health, mental illness, and mental performance
  • Unpacking your role and “duty of care” as a champion in sport
  • Recognizing and addressing signs and symptoms of distress in yourself and others
  • Determining how to have “critical conversations” related to mental health
  • Establishing and navigating the adoption of a “self” and “athlete” mental health plan
  • Expanding your knowledge around provincial and national resources and support

Ultimately, our goal is to provide you with a clear roadmap on how to promote and optimize mental health and wellness, both in and outside of sport.
