In celebration of National Coaches Week in Ontario this year, the Coaches Association of Ontario (CAO) has partnering with host communities from across the province to deliver NCCP Community Clinics, which aim to recruit, develop, educate and celebrate community volunteer coaches!
These workshops are being provided to coaches at SUPER Discounted rates thanks to the partnership with Northumberland Sports Council

Make Ethical  Decisions Workshop – 6pm-10pm  – ONLY $10

By successfully completing the 3.5-hour Make Ethical Decisions workshop you will be fully equipped to handle virtually any ethical situation with confidence and surety. MED is one of the NCCP’s cornerstone workshops, and leaves coaches with no doubt as to what to do when the going gets tough. Upon completing the MED module you’ll be able to: analyze a challenging situation and determine if it has moral, legal or ethical implications; and apply the NCCP Ethical Decision-Making Model to properly respond to each situation in a way that is consistent with the NCCP Code of Ethics.

Basketball Fundamentals Workshop – 9am-3pm  – ONLY $20

Designed for the first-time coach of athletes in the FUNdamentals stage (ages 6-8 females/6-9 males) of athlete development, this six-hour, in-class and in the gym workshop will help you understand who you are coaching, provide you with the basic skills for planning a practice, and show you how to teach those skills in a fun and inclusive way.

OR

Planning a Practice Workshop – 9am-2:30pm  – ONLY $15
(*Cannot be combined with  Basketball Fundamentals Workshop*)

The Planning a Practice module will give you the skills to: Organize a well-structured practice plan with safe, age-appropriate activities you’ve designed to match the proficiency level of participants; Identify potential risk factors that could impact the sport and practice activities; Create an emergency action plan; and Identify practice goals and design activities that offer the best training benefits for the athletic skills required in your sport.

AND

Nutrition Workshop – 3:00pm – 4:30pm  – ONLY $5
(*Cannot be combined with  Basketball Fundamentals Workshop*)

After taking the Nutrition module you will be able to: Determine if foods and beverages consumed by your athletes before, during and after training are adequate; Offer suggestions for more suitable food and beverage alternatives when necessary; and Gain a better understanding of the best way to promote healthy food choices that are consistent with basic sport nutrition principles to both athletes and their parents.

Fundamental Movement Skills Workshop – 10am-3pm-  ONLY $15
2 LOCATIONS: Town Park RC (Port Hope)  OR Hastings Field House (Hastings)

Through this interactive workshop, participants gain the ability to: Detect and correct basic errors for fundamental movement skills in participants so they have a choice to adopt a healthy, active lifestyle; Apply a teaching process to promote the development of fundamental movement skills; Adapt fundamental movement skills for participants with intellectual, physical, sensory, or behavioural disabilities; Lead activities that will promote the development of fundamental movement skills in a safe, responsible manner while interacting with others; and Provide stage-appropriate feedback to encourage and develop fundamental movement skills in participants.

Baseball Instruction  Beginner  Hitting Workshop – 8:30am-12:30pm – ONLY $10

(*Cannot be combined with  Fundamental Movement Skills  Workshops*)

Registration for this course must be done through Baseball Canada – https://nccp.baseball.ca/index.php?page=180.  Coaches will need to create and account and complete the online baseball initiation module ($16.45) before they will be able to register for either or both clinics.

Upon completing this clinic you will be able to detect and correct fundamental hitting performance.  Before attending the Hitting clinic, coaches must first successfully complete Baseball Canada’s Online Initiation module.

AND

Baseball Instruction  Beginner  Pitching & Catching Workshop – 1pm-5pm – ONLY $10
(*Cannot be combined with  Fundamental Movement Skills  Workshops*)

Registration for this course must be done through Baseball Canada – https://nccp.baseball.ca/index.php?page=180. Coaches will need to create and account and complete the online baseball initiation module ($16.45) before they will be able to register for either or both clinics.
