In celebration of National Coaches Week in Ontario this year, the Coaches Association of Ontario (CAO) has partnering with host communities from across the province to deliver NCCP Community Clinics, which aim to recruit, develop, educate and celebrate community volunteer coaches!
These workshops are being provided to coaches at SUPER Discounted rates thanks to partnerships with the Abilities Centre, Investors Group, and the Coaching Association of Canada.

Make Ethical Decisions Workshop – 6pm-10pm – ONLY $10

By successfully completing the 3.5-hour Make Ethical Decisions workshop you will be fully equipped to handle virtually any ethical situation with confidence and surety. MED is one of the NCCP’s cornerstone workshops, and leaves coaches with no doubt as to what to do when the going gets tough. Upon completing the MED module you’ll be able to: analyze a challenging situation and determine if it has moral, legal or ethical implications; and apply the NCCP Ethical Decision-Making Model to properly respond to each situation in a way that is consistent with the NCCP Code of Ethics.

Rugby Community Initiation (Non-Contact) Workshop – 9am-5pm – ONLY $20
(*Cannot be combined with Basketball FUNdamentals Workshop*)

This workshop is designed for rugby coaches of young athletes (ages 6-12) who are looking to learn how to coach the non-contact end of the game. Coaches will learn how to plan practices, and discover fun, game-based learning through in-class and on the field activities.

The Basketball FUNdamentals Community Coaching Course is a National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) course developed by Canada Basketball, in conjunction with the Coaching Association of Canada, to deliver an extensive coach education program for the community coach. It provides the mom/dad or entry level coach with the necessary skills, knowledge and materials to deliver a safe, fun and age/stage-appropriate basketball experience for young athletes.

Fundamental Movement Skills Workshop – 9am-5pm- ONLY $20
(*Cannot be combined with Learn to Coach Boccia Workshop*)

The Fundamental Movement Skills of throwing, catching, jumping, striking, running, kicking, agility, balance and coordination, form the basis for future sport skill development and for the life-long enjoyment of physical activity. After this workshop you will be able to: Analyze and identify the various stages of development for the fundamental movement skills; Apply a six-step process to teaching the fundamental movement skills; and Create safe games where children can practice fundamental movement skills.

Learn to Coach Boccia Workshop – 9am-5pm – ONLY $20
(*Cannot be combined with Fundamental Movement Skills Workshop*)

This one day workshop introduces participants to coaching the sport of boccia. Following this workshop, coaches will be able to train beginning boccia players as well as recreational players who have been involved in the sport for a few years. Topics covered include: understanding participant needs, the basics of boccia, improving boccia skills, learning to plan a practice, and “Make Ethical Decisions” – a powerful six-step decision-making process for every coach and an NCCP requirement for all sports. No previous knowledge of the sport is required to participate in this workshop.
