27% of Canadian adults volunteer in sport. 65% report that their first experience volunteering was through Sport and Recreation, making it one of the largest volunteer sectors in Canada.

CAO works with tens of thousands of coaches from over 65 sports in Ontario.

The Power of Sport

Positive sport experiences positively impact our youth. Sport provides positive effects for physical health, cognitive development & brain health, academic achievement, self-esteem, and social & emotional functioning.

Our Partners Ensure Resilient Communities through Quality Sport

The Coaches Association of Ontario is the provincial hub for coaching sport, from grassroots all the way to high performance, across all sport and recreation settings.

A CAO partnership demonstrates your organization cares deeply about community service, employee engagement and the positive impact of diverse and inclusive sport experiences.

Together, we can foster the development of youth and thriving communities by supporting the many people who bring quality, positive sport experiences to their participants: Our Coaches.

Who We Work With

Supporting Partners

The CAO acknowledges the generous support from its partners for its programs and to the benefit of Ontario Coaches.

The Ontario Government, through the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport, provides direct support to delivery of the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Coach Education program and Coaching Enhancement Funds, which allows over 1,300 coaches per year to subsidize their training costs. Coach education keep coaches on the field of play, allowing them to lead with competence and confidence.

Hydro One is committed to giving back to the communities where they live, work and play. Their community investment program builds safe communities across Ontario by focusing on safe play and safety training. That is why we have partnered together to celebrate and recognize the important role coaches play in building a culture of safety for their participants across Ontario.
Our Safe Sport 101 resource hub was developed to give coaches the tools they need to make sport safe, inclusive and fun for all. This includes community coaching grants, free eLearning, research reports and downloadable resources.
