Funding for Coaches

Up to a maximum of $300 per individual in the fiscal year (April 1, 2020-March 31, 2021) will be available to cover up to 60% of course registration fees (workshop training) and up to 70% for completion of certification process (portfolio + evaluation).

COVID-19 Update: If you complete an eligible NCCP Competition Development training via ‘Online Delivery’ you can now submit for a coach bursary to receive up to 60% back off the cost of the course. This policy is in effect for courses starting from March 16th, 2020 until further notice. Applications and Final Reports for courses between March 16, 2020 – March 31, 2020 must still be submitted by March 31, 2020.

  1. Register and Pay
  2. Submit application for review which must be received within 120 days of the end date of your training.
  3. An email will be sent by CAO office that will indicate the status of your application and include your next steps. Please read the email notification and review how to submit the final report, proof of payment and proof of completion.
  4. Complete coach training or evaluation activity
  5. Submit final report for activity identified on the approved application.

Bursaries can only be applied to individual coaches:

  • Coaching an eligible sport
  • Resident of Ontario
  • Working directly with Ontario competitive athletes preparing them for regional, provincial, national and international competition
  • Who complete NCCP training in Competition or instruction Stream
  • Who paid the fees themselves

Points of Eligibility Clarification

  • Coaches must apply for the bursary within 120 days of the end date of their training or evaluation.
  • Coaches must submit final report within 120 days of the end date of their training or final evaluation.
  • Bursaries are only eligible for in-person NCCP and Remote/Online formats (during COVID-19). Home study learning formats is not eligible.
  • Bursaries not available for old technical 1, 2, 3 courses
  • Bursaries are not available for Competition Introduction Multi-Sport Modules.
  • Coaches must pay their own course fee. Course fees paid in advance of the workshop by the club, league, sport association, etc, are not eligible for coach bursary
  • Coaches must be Ontario residents in order to apply.

To be eligible, the sport for which the applicant represents must also meet all of the following three criteria:

  1. Must be delivered by a PSO/MSO recognized under the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries (MHSTCI’s) Sport Recognition Policy,
  2. Must be participating in the Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP).
  3. Must have an approved NCCP Program.
