Home Study, eLearning, and Online Delivery

NCCP Training in Ontario is available remotely!

While the majority of our coaches are trained in an synchronous setting (Online live or In-person), the CAO also supports various methods to accommodate coaches who prefer alternative learning environments.

The home study program is intended for coaches who prefer a self-directed learning environment or who are unable to attend a set training date and time.

Home study is a correspondence based learning method and the hours required for completion may be more than what is required of coaches attending an in-class course option.

  • eMaterials will be emailed upon registration
  • You will receive an email with instructions to download the electronic reference guide and coach workbook
  • An NCCP accredited Learning Facilitator will be assigned as a resource for any questions
  • You will complete a series of exercises and tasks in the workbook and submit by email for marking to the assigned Learning Facilitator.

The length of time to complete a home study varies by course and learning style of the individual. The home study format relies heavily on self-directed learning. All courses are given a 2 month completion period. Should you require an extension, please email homestudy@coachesontario.ca with your request.

Available Home Study Courses

Not all workshops have been designed or modified for home study. The quality assurance of NCCP delivery is important and we want to ensure we continue to provide the same quality of service to all coaches across the province.

*If you are unsure about which course(s) you need, please contact education@coachesontario.ca

Please Note: The Competition Development Multi-sport Modules are targeted towards coaches who are working with athletes at the Provincial and National levels. These modules are very lengthy, challenging and time-consuming so ensure that you have time to complete the work.

NCCP eLearning is training completed at your own pace, in an online format through the Coaching Association of Canada.

Available eLearning Courses

NCCP Multi-sport eLearning modules can be found in the Locker. You will be required to login to the Locker with your NCCP#.

Starting April 1, 2026, NCCP Make Ethical Decisions (MED) training and evaluation will be delivered through a new eLearning module in the Locker learning management system. This update introduces a one-time fee and a consistent learning experience across sports and contexts, making MED more accessible and efficient for coaches, no matter where they live. The shift reflects a broader effort to strengthen partnerships and enhance consistency across the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) ecosystem.
As a coach, if you are already certified in MED, nothing changes and you will not be required to take MED again. If you have taken MED training but have not yet completed the online evaluation, you are encouraged to do so before March 31, 2026. Coaches who have completed the training but not the evaluation by that date will be required to complete the new eLearning module, which includes both the training and evaluation. If you have never taken MED training, you will be able to complete the entire process online beginning April 1.
This transition is part of ongoing work with partners across the country to enhance the Canadian sport system and support the long-term sustainability of NCCP programming. Your support and understanding are appreciated as these improvements take effect.

If coaches need assistance accessing technology to complete a Home Study, eLearning or Online course, Contact North helps people living in Ontario, especially those in small, rural, northern, and remote areas, access the online education and training they need to get or retain a job, earn a promotion, or advance their career without having to leave their communities.

Coaches can reach out directly to their local Education & Training Advisor (ETA) using our staff locator tool: https://contactnorth.ca/contact-us/request-staff-assistance/

By selecting a coaches’ location, the coach will be matched with the appropriate staff member. The coach can ask if there is a nearby place where they can access a computer and reliable internet. The Contact North team can help identify the closest access point and support them in using our services.

If a coach has reliable internet at home, a coach can apply to borrow a laptop at no cost through our Laptop Loan Service: https://contactnorth.ca/services/get-free-use-of-a-laptop-to-study-online/

The application process is simple, and while delivery can take up to two weeks, the laptop is shipped directly to the coaches’ door with a prepaid return label included. This service is completely free.

Online learning centres are available by appointment only. Please reach out to the local staff for availability beforehand. In some instances, Contact North may not have a local Online Learning Centre; the local staff can suggest local alternatives as well. Please connect with a local advisor via https://contactnorth.ca/contact-us/request-staff-assistance/
